My Story

A Lifelong Connection to Nature

As a child, my love of nature was insatiable. Both my mum and my dad would teach me even as a baby, the names of the birds animals and insects around me. From fat bumblebees on the wall of the house to the butterflies on the Buddleia bush. Even bird song, taught as we heard it, in that tiny little hamlet in the south of England. Over the years I've taught myself to photograph the wildlife around me. Now that I'm mainly housebound, I'm limited to the view from my windows. But that's not so much of a limit when the window has such a wonderful view. From my photos, I create incredibly detailed art pieces. Each one can take months. Art of the birds, bees, butterflies and flowers that surround me. The photos are beautiful in their own right, but creating the art is a simple meditative state that allows me to flow with the music, audiobooks or poetry that I'm listening to as I work. It may not be an ideal life, but there are huge parts of it that are idyllic.
